SWI Working Hard Towards Center of Excellence Composites in the Netherlands

November 2013

At Rijen, the place where the Dutch Royal Airforce holds the national helicopter station for transport and assault (Chinook, Cougar and Apacche), also harbours a new Aerospace and Technology Campus called Gate2. SWI strongly participates in this second to none knowledge center.

An area, big enough to facilitate approximately 3.000 students, teachers, technicians, and most of all driven characters, is the keystone for a new work and knowledge incubator. Our foundation SWI will be responsible for a brand new series of courses with a strong focus on the material group ‘composites’. Besides composite knowledge in general, SWI was directly asked by Boeing America to coördinate their composite courses for their clients and employees.

Nowadays, composites are seen as constructive material in bridges, airplanes, cars, oil- gas and chemical pipes and lots of applications where lightness and strength are key issues for reliability and/or environment. The need for companies to have composite knowledge and specialists is therefore rapidly and continuesly increasing ‘as we speak’.

The Gate2 campus will be known as ‘school 2.0′ where resident students find all kinds of latest facilities such as; indoor interactive running track, high grade living quarters, snack corners and wifi gardens, outdoor soccer fields, high end fitness rooms, free parking for 3.000+ cars and many more, all to set body and mind in the modus for learning and experiencing new things, skills, methods.

To point it all: SWI believes in a more full aproachcovering work and learning  in order to master the future!

We will keep all readers informed about the latest developments in respect to this subject via our website
